I believe in the power of volunteering, for the volunteer, for the nonprofit and for the world.
So one of my challenges this year revolves around volunteer service to a dozen charities that I have never helped out before. That rules out plenty of good causes – the People for Palmer Park, Mint Artists Guild, Coalition on Temporary Shelter, the Breakfast at St. Andrew’s, Food Gatherers and others.
Yet it gives me plenty of room to connect with important and creative new nonprofits – mostly in Detroit, but perhaps a few will be in Ypsilanti or Ann Arbor too. Watch my blog for updates on this challenge. Or when I’m finished – in September 2018 – perhaps I’ll take a breath and update this page.
If you want to support Mint, the nonprofit I co-founded, we welcome your donations– as we grow our summer jobs and other programs.
And I welcome you to join me in this challenge to give in an array of good causes. Maybe you start on VolunteerMatch or another volunteer connecting site.
